Yes. Lifeline is a official federal program. AirTalk is a licensed provider that gives you the free phone and monthly service at $0 cost.
Does Lifeline give me a FREE phone?
Lifeline itself provides support toward eligible monthly phone or internet service. A FREE phone may be offered separately by participating Lifeline providers such as AirTalk Wireless to eligible customers.
How much does Lifeline cover?
Eligible households can receive a standard Lifeline benefit of up to $9.25 per month toward qualifying internet or bundled service. Consumers on qualifying Tribal lands may receive up to $34.25 per month.
Who qualifies for Lifeline?
You may qualify if your household income is at or below 135% of the Federal
Poverty
Guidelines, or if you or someone in your household participates in an
eligible
government assistance program.
Qualifying programs include SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing
Assistance,
Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit, and certain Tribal programs.
Can I Transfer Or Share My Lifeline Benefit With Someone Else?
No. Lifeline benefits cannot be transferred or shared. Each eligible person must apply individually for their own benefit.
How many Lifeline discounts can my household recevice?
The Lifeline program allows one benefit per household. If someone in your home already has Lifeline, only one person can use it at a time
